NEWS: International Women’s Day Workshop

On March 8th, we made smoothies with year 10, 11 and 6th form girls from South Holderness Technology College for International Women’s day

As this was a women’s day I was tempted to grow my hair to try and fit in or perhaps sport a dress and bit of lippy. It wouldn’t have been the first time, but that’s a whole other story.

The event was kicked off by News presenter Leanne Brown from BBC Look North.

The day was centred on raising the girl’s aspirations and ambitions for their future after they
leave school.

Xing were one of four companies involved in the day.

We did a presentation showing how the girls could be leaders and entrepreneurs of the future. They went onto compete in a product development workshop designing smoothies for different segments of the women’s market. We then had a question and answer session on setting up a business with some of the sixth formers.

Julia Lovel teacher and organiser of the day told us, ‘a pupil said it made her realise her dreams are achievable’. Julia went on to say ‘Can you do better than that on a Thursday in East Yorkshire with a dull sky?’

Check out the story in the Hull Daily Mail.

Now that’s a good question.

Phil and the gang.
